Job Title: Plumbing Trades Manager
Mission:
As a Plumbing Trades Manager in the home services industry, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage a team of skilled workers and tradespeople engaged in various home services activities, including plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical work. You will ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. The Plumbing Trades Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the General Manager in the overall leadership of the assigned service center, coordinating activities, providing technical guidance and development, and ensuring the overall success of the team and customer satisfaction.
Direct Reports: 10-20 Technicians / Team Leads
Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of tradespeople, including HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled workers.
- Implement performance management strategies to set expectations, provide feedback, and evaluate team members’ performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to support employee development and improvement.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on team members' expertise and abilities.
- Plan and implement training sessions and weekly meetings to assist with team development.
- Conduct 1-1 meetings in Leadr and create Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to provide personalized coaching and support.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that embraces company initiatives and change.
- Analyze project data and prepare for weekly meetings.
- Participate in and facilitate Level 10 meetings to align with the company's vision.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with other departments and trades to understand project requirements, timelines, and objectives.
- Plan and schedule tasks to ensure efficient project execution and meet deadlines.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to maintain productivity and quality.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to promote a culture of safety among the team.
- Ensure work is completed to high-quality standards and complies with industry regulations and specifications.
Resource Management:
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and materials for projects.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Customer Satisfaction and Team Engagement:
- Maintain regular communication with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to inform them of project progress.
- Address any client concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality workmanship and service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and mutual respect.
- Encourage employee feedback and take proactive measures to address concerns and improve job satisfaction.
- Support employee development and training initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge within the team.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular progress reports, incident reports, and other documentation as required by the company and clients.
- Keep accurate records of project expenses, time sheets, and other relevant data.
Departmental Revenue and Cost Management:
- Collaborate with the General Manager to drive departmental revenue and meet overall revenue budgets.
- Monitor and manage labor, material, and associated job costs, ensuring jobs stay within budgeted targets.
- Work with the team to achieve call count goals, ensuring efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
- Monitor call counts and implement strategies to optimize productivity and billable efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience in the trade industry is a plus but not a requirement.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, demonstrating strong team management and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using computers and relevant software for reporting and documentation.
- A valid driver's license.
Availability and Working Hours:
- Open availability is required. As a Plumbing Trades Manager, you must remain flexible and available to your team, which may include weekends and nights. Generally, the working hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Your ability to maintain open availability and communication will significantly contribute to the efficient management of our team.
